Traveling with the Grace

First let me say thank you and I love you for all the prayers that I got for my trip last weekend to Oakland to see my brother for his birthday. My main family and close friends were all there to celebrate Wayne’s 50th birthday. It was a tremendous weekend and an outstanding and blessed trip. I got prayers from my good friend Ted and my uncle George. Friday morning I got prayers from my favorite minister from my hometown, Rev. Gibson.

Thursday night, my good friend and brother Lance came in from Sacramento to drive us up on Friday morning. That morning, my great nurse Natalie and her son Darius came in, got me ready, and helped me finish my packing. Lance and I took off to Oakland in a van that Baron secured for me for the weekend. It was the longest trip that I’ve taken in 5 years. I had not sat up that long in quite some time. My other great nurse Alma and her husband met us at the hotel in Emeryville. They put me down to rest for the night. My brother, his family, my mom and dad, and friends Kevin and Gisele and Ben came in that evening to give me a warm welcome. Everyone was elated that I had arrived!

Saturday I spent time with my friend Desmond and his son Malcom at the hotel. My lady love Nikki and her daughter Juliet and a charming young family friend came to see me. Saturday night, the party was outstanding! All of Wayne’s friends, in-laws, and loved ones were there to celebrate him. I’m so proud of him. I love him, Marcia, Tommy, and Jordan so much. I wrote a special message for Wayne that I was unable to deliver myself, so my nephew Tommy spoke eloquently for me. Everyone enjoyed it and Wayne was very happy. We had a great evening. I have to say other than my mother and Marcia, I had the prettiest date. Spending time with Nikki made me feel like it was my bithday. I’m so proud of her and I love her so much.

If you have Facebook, you can use my e-mail address to go to my page and check out some photos. My brother Jeffrey is going to make sure that I have a link to some photos on my website. After a last brunch on Sunday morning, my friend Baron and his girl Cindy drove us back to Los Angeles, and we arrived safely at around 7:00 p.m. It was a long, happy, joyous, and blessed weekend. Once again, I thank all of you for your prayers and good thoughts. I could feel the protection and the support all weekend long. I love you all.
